About Embodying Race(ism) Lab

“What we cannot imagine, cannot come into being -Bell Hooks”

Founded in 2018, the Embodying Race(ism) Lab investigates how social inequalities shape health, with a focus on racialized groups and immigrants. Our goal is to produce research that drives systemic change and promotes health equity.

Our Research Areas

Structural Racism & Health Disparities

By investigating how social inequalities shape health, primarily with minorities and immigrants we are able to examine how structural racism contributes to health disparities, emphasizing the ways that social, political, and economic systems can influence population health.

Healthcare Inequities & Access

This research area addresses accesibility barriers related to healthcare resources and tools, highlighting the ways these limitations shape health outcomes for racialized groups and immigrant communities.

Policy Interventions & Systemic Change

Through evaluating local and state policies that affect health outcomes, we collect information and use the findings to drive systematic change and reduce health inequities
